About The Currahee Project

“Currahee” is a Native American term that means,

“We stand alone, together.”

The Military trains us to go to war; No one trains us to come home. Just because we are home does not mean we are alone. Our fellow soldiers are still here to have our “6”.

We, at The Currahee Project, are here to help you get the information you need, so you can be taken care of when you come home. The purpose of the project is to help fellow veterans and service members get the services, as well as the vital information they need to reintegrate into civilian life.

Our organization is completely volunteer and donation based, which means we believe in our cause and that the success of our fellow Veterans is payment enough for a job well done. We stand against Veteran Homelessness and for Veteran Suicide Awareness.

Our Mission

The mission of The Currahee Project is to be a voice for the Veterans of the State of Rhode Island.

Specifically, we will bring greater awareness to the Veteran Suicide Epidemic. Through targeting at-risk Veteran populations, it will be possible to get at-risk Veterans the support they are in need of.

We as an organization believe that Veteran Homelessness can be fixed. There are several national models that have been extremely successful and can be implemented locally. We will work together with local nonprofits to not only get our Warriors off the streets. These brave men and women will be reintegrated into the community with counseling, life skills training, and work skills training that will allow for a total self-sustaining existence. We are all stronger and well informed as a collective body working together towards a common goal.

“We stand alone, together.”
